In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has led to the extended closure of schools in most European countries, severely affecting millions of young people and hampering education systems, civil society is coming up with solutions to resilience and to combat the loss of learning. The CENTER REGION SUPPORT Association, in partnership with the European Academy of Regions (AER), Transilvania University of Brașov, Danubius University Galati and Brașov Municipality, announces the opening, on the 8th of February 2021, of registrations for the first edition of the DigitalNerds online programming contest www.DigitalNerdsContest.ro.

The event is not only a challenge for students skilled in the field, but a space for academic education, coming to the general public with a series of online conferences on topics such as: digital literacy, artificial intelligence, robotics, mechatronics, data management, and security cybernetics, trades of the future, e-health, agriculture assisted by digital technologies, as well as cyber-bullying (intimidation/aggression in the online space). The conferences will be delivered by experts from the academic environment and from the major partner technology companies, moderated by science journalists from “Tomorrow’s Journal” and “IT Forum”.

 Complete agenda of the event:

  • February 8, 2021 – Opening of registrations
  • April 5, 2021 – Launch of the theme for categories I and II
  • 5 – 15 April 2021 – Conferences on IT topics
  • April 16, 2021 – Launch of the theme for category III (Hackathon)
  • April 18, 2021, 23:59 – Deadline for uploading projects.

The contest is open to all young people with programming skills and knowledge (whether or not included in the education system), aged between 7 and 23, in Romania and abroad.
