European Academy of Regions (EAR) is organizing a Lunch Debate in the European Parliament hosted by MEP Elisabetta Gardini to highlight the side effects of “Illicit trade of tobacco products – a problem for European Regions”.
The event will take place the 14th of October 2015, 13:00-14:45 Hrs.
EAR is aware of the importance of the topic for the health for consumers and for losses of taxation for the state and we are convinced your speech regarding the topic would very much contribute to a fruitful debate with partners and other participants.
The topic will bring together Members of European Parliament, other EU stakeholders and various organizations, to discuss the consequences of illicit tobacco trade on European regions and its impact. Specialist of customs duty and representative Experts of tobacco associations will give an input how to deal with the smuggling on the European level.
This event takes place in the context of our event series “European Region Debates“; This event series should show issues that affect regions throughout Europe and raise the awareness of the importance of the regions for the European Union as a factor of stability and sustainable growth.
