In collaboration with the European Parliament, MEP Dr Tănăsescu and HEARTWARE/MEDTRONIC, the Healthcare Innovation and Government Affairs department of the European Academy of the Regions is organizing the “First Roundtable on Long Term Mechanical Circulatory Support for end stage heart failure patients”.
The goal of the event is to create awareness about this life saving therapy to guarantee homogeneous access to ventricular assist devices across EU member countries. The roundtable will cover topics from Quality of Life and Patient Follow up aspects to coverage and reimbursement hurdles that need to be overcome by centers performing this interesting therapy.
The event has the endorsement of key medical societies such as EACTS, HFA-ESC, ISHLT, UEMS, ESOT as well as local entities such as SITO and the Spanish Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. National foundations like “Fundación Cirugía y Corazón” as well as a VAD patient will be sharing live his experience with this amazing technology. This is a unique platform to bring LVADs to next level with the participation of key drivers who daily fight to improve access to those patients in need.
