New ROM mission brings board member Louis Delcart to Moldova and Azerbaijan.

On June 4th, board member Louis Delcart leaves for Moldova in order to perform another Result Oriented Monitoring of a well budgeted multinational program, managed by Eurochambres, the European association of chambers of commerce and industry. The project is complex assisting Business support organisations (BSOs) as well as SMEs in the Eastern Partnership countries (EaP) in their search for more international co-operation. Eurochambres is focusing this time on a determined set of sectors, enabling them to improve their knowledge about their sector in a European contacts and to establish in depth contacts with European sector members. The selected sectors are: textile, bio/agro, tourism, creative, wine. Sectoral consortia were created containing both sector representatives from a European country as sector representatives from EaP countries.  These consortia were enabled to ask for subgrants paid by the monitored program ‘EU4Business: Connecting Companies’. The subgrants were dedicated to various activities: Business to business matchings between SMEs from both parts of Europe, Study visits from BSOs to EU chambers of commerce or sector organisations, twinnings of BSOs to EU chambers of commerce or sector organisations. Moreover a virtual export academy was organised, a BSO tour to various CCIs in the EU as well as a mobility scheme enabling SMEs to visit together key trade fairs in their sector.

The program is in its final stage and the DG Near of the European Commission is now sending objective monitors to look at the achieved result and to give recommendations about lessons learned and innovative programs created. M. Delcart’s visit schedule is very dense in various parts of the country. The next week,  he will do the same effort, but then remotely to Azerbaijan. His colleague M. Thomas Jentsch, is visiting in parallel Georgia and Armenia. Ukraine was also part of the program, but for obvious reasons, the monitors were not send to the country.
