Dear members, partners and friends,
We are happy to inform you that EAR-AER had an online meeting today, 12th February 2021, with Mr. Frédéric Petit, Mayor and Mr. Mikaël Hosseini, Municipal Councilor, Wezembeek-Oppem.
The interest of the municipality for the activities was genuine and made a successful meeting, What interested them most was the promotion of youth initiatives as circular start-ups and multinational youth exchanges, the development of short food circuits, the promotion of the green sites of the commune as touristic attraction and the tackling of the problem of infiltrating passing-by traffic of the municipalities’ narrow lanes.
It has been agreed that the municipality will respond to the invitation to become a member of our academy.
EAR-AER was represented by its President Nelu Neacsu and the two board members Louis Delcart and Manoela Popescu.
We thank Ms. Daniela Livia Biciu, President of the Association of Romanian Women in Belgium for facilitating this meeting. This Association aims to support the Romanian community in this country, and also, to promote the relations and exchanges both at the national and European level.
Wezembeek-Oppem is a municipality in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant, 10 kilometres east of the centre of Brussels. The municipality only comprises the town of Wezembeek-Oppem proper. On January 1, 2016, Wezembeek-Oppem had a total population of 14,095. The total area is 6.82 km² which gives a population density of 2,066 inhabitants per km². Wezembeek-Oppem is home to a large community of international expatriates, in part because of the presence of the Internationale Deutsche Schule Brüssel (iDSB) in Wezembeek-Oppem itself, and the British School of Brussels in nearby Tervuren.
